TIRANE, July 25 (ATA)-By A. Balla/-The Chinese Embassy in Tirane extended on Thursday a reception for the Albanian delegation, which will participate in the Olympic Games to open on August 8 in Beijing.

Present at the ceremony were the Ambassador of the Republic of China to Albania, Wang JunLing, the President of the Albanian National Olympic Committee, Hysen Domi, the 11 Albanian athletes, who will represent Albania at the Olympic games and their coaches.

"The Albanian delegation to leave for China will have the possibility to closely feel the warmth and friendship of the Chinese people," the Ambassador said.

Domi thanked the Chinese Ambassador for the close cooperation during the time of preparing the Albanian team.

Chinese Embassy Hosts Albanian Olympic Delegation to Beijing
TIRANA- The Chinese embassy in Tirana has hosted a dinner party for the Albanian team talking part in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Xinhua reported.

Chinese ambassador to Albania Wang Junling said on Thursday evening China has carried out thorough preparations in order to achieve a unique, high-level Games. Wang gave his best wishes to the Albanian team, hoping they would make a good performance at the Games.

Hysen Domi, president of the Albanian Olympic Committee, said he greatly appreciates China’s efforts in preparing for the Games and firmly believes it will be a great success. Domi expressed his thanks to China for setting up a platform for the sportsmen and women across the world to realize their Olympic dreams.

Albania is to send 27 people to the Beijing Olympic Summer Games, the biggest ever delegation in Albania’s Olympic history.
Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the country’s Sports Minister Ylli Pango will attend the opening ceremony of the Games on August 8 in Beijing.

Albania sends largest ever sports delegation to Olympics

TIANA, July 21- Albania will send its largest sports delegation to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The Albanian team will be made up of 11 sportsmen, the largest ever delegation in the country’s Olympic history, according to Hysen Domi, head of the country’s Olympic comm.ittee.

Prime Minister Sali Berisha and Sports Minister Ylli Pango will also take part at the opening ceremony, august 9 in Beijing.

Among the 27 representatives traveling to Beijing, 11 are athletes, 9 coaches, and the rest are administrative officials. The athletes will compete in six events: swimming, track and field, weightlifting, wrestling, shooting and judo.

Albania firs took part in Olympic Games in 1972 in Munich, in Germany and did not again field a team until the Barcelona Games in Spain in 1992.

Albania hopes to see competitive performances in weightlifting and wrestling.
