Albania and China have agreed to boost cooperation in health sector. The joint commitment was made on Wednesday during a meeting Albanian health minister Anila Godo had with Chinese ambassador to Tirana Wang Junling.
Under a draft agreement, Albania has called on the Chinese authorities for assistance in all medical fields, including hospitals, exchange of information on new medical equipment and pharmaceutical products.
Godo and the Chinese ambassador also discussed the possibility of conducting joint research projects and short-term trainings of Albanian health specialists. Rehabilitation medicine, which is one of China’s most successful specialties, was also considered to be included in the official agreements.
The Albanian health system is considered one of the country’s most corrupt and fragile sectors, suffering from poor infrastructure and lack of qualified staff.
